I want to try stand up and Bill and simply put "just do it" which is the correct answer. What scares me isn't getting in front but if I were to bomb my first time I wouldn't want to go back up.
Bill says he was writing jokes for years he went up, bob kelly, Marc maron others have said that got a few laughs the first time to keep them coming back. I don't know of one comedian however that despite eating his balls his first time, went back up and tried it.
There's an open mic this Thursday and I'll will myself to go and watch the open mic'ers, but I don't know when I'm gonna be confident enough with the material I have.
So what are your excuses other than you have no interest?

Chris, You should do it. Can you bounce some of your material off of people at work, without being reprimanded? That might help build some confidence. The first couple times out, If you can get a friend, (Not a lot, just 1 or 2), to come to the show. That way if you're feeling bound, you can reflect there reaction, to the rest of the audience. Ex: Bad joke- "This guy in the audience is roll'n there eyes, like, "Why are you up there?" I have to ask my self the same question. LOL. I'll just go up there and embarrass myself,...What a fun night that will be. I could be at home doing laundry, making my lunch, for work tomorrow,...Perhaps gett'n a restful nights sleep,..........Naw, fuck it,....I'll go have some folks hate me instead. That will make for a much funner night."
Personally, I would expect to bomb. I have a lot of old school references, that most prolly wouldn't get. It's the come-backs, from hecklers, that would get me. I'm witty, but not very quick, on that draw.
I've heard comics advice in the past, that you shouldn't laugh at your own jokes. I think that is wrong. I've noticed Bill, Jon Reep, Mitch Fatel, and many others do it. Not so much laughing at there own jokes, but PERHAPS, laughing at the situation that brought about the joke. If you're charismatic, it can help pull you from a bad situation. As Mr. Burr says, "I can do something about it,...Help turn it around".
Do it. At least you can chalk it up on the, "Things I've done list", on your death-bed.
Might get a roll on Breaking Bad. LOL.

Bump. Any luck?
Looks like I won't be doing my big boob bit. Jesus Christ. Just joking, Nia,..."Suddenly I'm making statements". LOL. Building that thicker skin. FYI, My Gal Is stacked! Beautiful Gal and the most wonderful person anyone could ever meet. She's my "Futon girl". And I would never jeopardize that by tweaking her centerpieces.
